How we assess technical claims

Prompt contact and site visit
Once instructed, we contact the insured, explain the process and arrange an inspection. Our assessors travel to the site anywhere in South Africa.

Cause of failure
We examine the equipment or works, review maintenance and operating records, and obtain specialist or manufacturer reports where needed to pinpoint the cause of failure.

Quantification against the policy
Quotes, invoices and replacement values are tested against market rates and the policy wording, including limits, excesses and any under-insurance.

Clear report and recommendation
The insurer receives a concise, evidence-based report with photographs and a settlement recommendation, and every step is tracked hourly in our own claims management system.

Is wear and tear covered under machinery breakdown?
Generally not. Machinery breakdown cover usually responds to sudden and unforeseen damage. Identifying whether a failure was sudden or gradual is a core part of our assessment.
Do you use specialist repairers' reports?
Yes. Where needed, we obtain strip-down, specialist or manufacturer reports and review them independently before making a recommendation.
Do you assess claims on construction sites?
Yes. We assess contractors all risks claims for damage to works, materials and plant on construction sites across South Africa.
